Welcome to AIPS

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

CAORC Multi-Country Research Fellowships

CAORC is now accepting applications for Multi-Country Research Fellowships. These fellowships enable US scholars to carry out trans-regional and comparative research in countries across the network of Overseas Research Centers (ORCs), as well as other countries. The Multi-Country Research fellowship program first launched in 1993 with fourteen ORCs participating.

"The Journal of Research in Humanities announces a call for papers for Issue No 1, January to June, of Volume LVII of JRH. The journal welcomes analytical and critical articles of 4000 to 6000 words. Articles must be original and hitherto unpublished. Electronic submissions along with the submission form should be sent to chief.editor.jrh@pu.edu.pk."

2021 AIPS Short-Term Research Grant Awardees

AIPS would like to congratulate our 2021 Short-Term Research Grant Awardees: Hashim Ali (University of Illinois-Chicago), Manav Kapur (Princeton University), Elliot Montpellier (University of Pennsylvania), Ilma Qureshi (University of Virginia), and Natalya Rahman (Stanford University). These scholars will spend up to 3 months conducting research in Pakistan.

2021-22 AIPS Fellows

AIPS is excited to announce our 2021-22 Fellows! Mashal Saif, Clemson University received a Post-Doctoral (Senior) Fellowship. Fizza Joffrey, University of Oxford; Muhammad Saad Lakhani (Stanford University), and Sarah Eleazar Sadiq (The University of Texas at Austin) received Pre-doctoral (Junior) Fellowships.  Congratulations to this year's fellows!
